Most of you are aware that Tom Brady, the New England Patriots quarterback, sustained a season ending knee surgery in week 1 of the NFL season. Just think of all the off season preparation that took place assuming he would be the Patriot's quarterback all season long...only now to have to make a huge adjustment. And yes, selfishly I am glad I did not draft him in my fantasy draft this past week!
It made me think of one of the questions in the probability closing scorecard we use to evaluate the likelihood of a deal closing that asks if anything can go wrong. The reality is that something can always go wrong. In fact, something ususally does go wrong.
One of the traits of the great salesperson is that they have anticipated the things that can go wrong and they make adjustments very quickly. They may be disappointed, but they are rarely surprised. In the case of the Patiots, my guess is that they will still have an excellent season.
How about you?
